Share your green thumb with the community. Work with the Park Beautification League to plant and maintain flower beds at Washington's Eastside Park. The group meets once a week for a couple of hours through the Spring and Summer. Make a difference in a life. People of all ages need to connect with someone who cares. Friends For Kids has children who need a big brother or sister. Power House is looking for people who can mentor and be a friend to teens. Angelworx wants men and women to form a friendship through telephone calls or letters with a homebound senior citizen. You can have a profound impact by giving a little time to someone who needs a friend. Help others give the gift of life. Volunteers are needed to work in the American Red Cross Bloodmobile. Greet blood donors, give and collect paperwork, or distribute snacks. A friendly face is reassuring to those giving blood. Join the hospital’s Auxiliary. You can help make a family’s hospital experience more pleasant by being the friendly face at the information desk, working with families in the surgery waiting room, delivering flowers and cards to patients, wheeling patients to medical tests, and other duties as needed. Do you love history? The downtown Daviess County Museum needs many volunteers to greet visitors, give tours, catalog acquisitions, set up displays, and perform housekeeping duties. This is a wonderful way to share your love of local history with visitors to the museum. Help families who are in need. Work on a telephone assistance line to take calls from people needing help with basic needs. Fill out forms with needed information and direct callers to agencies who provide the needed assistance. Your help can be a vital lifeline for families in crisis. Bring sunshine into the lives of nursing home residents. You can be the link to the “outside” for people who live a nursing home. Help with scheduled activities, visit, read books or newspapers, write letters, serve snacks, or entertain. Your visits can mean the world to a person in a nursing home. Calling all Seamstresses and Crafters. RSVP Volunteers make loveable stuffed Teddy Bears for children that receive services at Daviess Community Hospital. There is a once a month workshop from 9:00am - 11:30am on the 4th Tuesday of each month at the Community Building or you can work on your own at home. Patterns and fabric are available at our office. |
