October 2025 Newsletter

Fall is finally here and we are so thankful to have more mild weather. As we move into these colder months, don't forget that you can still volunteer even while at home. Whether it be crocheting, writing letters, calling shut-ins, or any other number of things, your volunteer service matters.

Important dates to consider: On October 13th, our office will be closed. November 3rd, will be our recognition reception and we need your RSVP in by October 20th so we know how many tables to set up.

Our Recognition Receptions is coming up on Monday, November 3rd and will start at 1 p.m. Rather than a full lunch, we will have treats for everyone and there will be more of an emphasis on the work that you, our volunteers, do. We have so many groups that we want to ensure are recognized, because without you none of this would be possible. Please make sure that you tell your less tech savvy friends who are volunteers so that they know about this event. We will be reaching out to everyone soon, but we want to make sure nobody is missed.

Event details: Monday, November 3, 2025 starting at 1 p.m.

RSVP by: Monday, October 20th

Phone App

We would like to host Tech Tuesday more frequently so that seniors who need help with devices can receive that help in a judgement free environment. If you are comfortable with your phone, computer, or tablet and would like to help, please shoot us a text or give us a call. We will be working towards getting a date on the calendar for more community members to come receive help.

We will be assisting with Tech Tuesday at The Villages at Oak Ridge on November 18th starting at 2 p.m. Contact us for more information or to sign up to help!

Bear Workshop 1-24-17.jpg

Bear Workshop is a time when volunteers come together to cut patterns, sew, and stuff teddy bears. These bears go out to children in the hospital, foster care, or who may have been part of a traumatic experience like a car accident. Recently, some of the bears have also been donated to Operation Christmas Shoebox to bless children all over the world. If you would like to be a part of this mission, reach out to us about getting involved.

October 28th is this month's bear workshop date.
